UK student turns summer research project into poetry book

Just because classes are out for the summer at the University of Kentucky, does not mean students have put a pause on their educational pursuits. This summer, while many were enjoying a well-deserved break, UK Lewis Honors College junior Beaux Hardin was hard at work, deeply immersed in research that could have a lasting impact on their field of study.

Beam Institute welcomes 1st class of interns (including one LHC student)

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 29, 2024) — The James B. Beam Institute for Kentucky Spirits at the University of Kentucky welcomes its first class of interns this summer. The group is a mix of students from different programs and majors at UK. Head Distiller Glenna Joyce-Welsko has been leading the students through production training and encouraging their research outside of the distillery.

Markey’s ACTION program expands its reach with latest student cohorts

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 24, 2024) — The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center’s Appalachian Career Training in ONcology (ACTION) has expanded its impact – this year including students from five previously unrepresented Appalachian counties. Nine students are part of the Lewis Honors College.

Students launch UK’s 1st edition of undergraduate research journal

3 UK students win scholarships to study critical languages abroad

2 UK undergraduate students named Beckman Scholars

Lewis Honors College student Elizabeth Elliott has been selected as one of two recipients of the University of Kentucky’s Beckman Scholars Program, titled Scholars United by Chemistry: Cultivating Excellence through Science Stewardship (SUCCESS).
