UK scientists and scholars among top 2% of most-cited researchers in the world

The University of Kentucky is well-represented on a list of the most-cited researchers in the world. In a database compiled by Stanford University in a partnership with Elsevier, 136 current UK scientists and scholars appear among the top 2% of the most-cited researchers across 22 disciplines.

3 UK graduates receive Fulbright awards

Three University of Kentucky graduates have received awards from the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.   Robert Anzenberger, a 2013 UK graduate and current Ph.D. student, and Nafisa Nigmatova and Connor Stuart, both 2025 graduates, received the prestigious awards, which expand perspectives through academic and professional advancement and cross-cultural dialogue.

UK-mentored MSTC students shine at international science fair

our students from the Math, Science, and Technology Center (MSTC) program at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington have earned top honors at the prestigious International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Columbus, Ohio.

Honors alum James Duff named interim dean of the J. David Rosenberg College of Law

Dear Colleagues, I am pleased to inform you that James C. Duff has agreed to serve as interim dean of the J. David Rosenberg College of Law, effective July 1, 2025.   Jim brings to UK extensive managerial and practical experience in both public service and the private practice of law, as well as in legal education. He served as counselor to Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist from 1996 to 2000 and as the director of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts by appointment of Chief Justice John Roberts, first from 2006 to 2011 and then from 2015 to 2021.

UPDATE: LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 4, 2025) — After technical issues rendered the results of the original Microsoft World Excel Collegiate Championship unofficial, a highly anticipated rematch was recently held at the CECC May Madness event in Arlington, Texas. Competing on one of the biggest esports stages for Excel, the University of Kentucky team — Colin Albrecht, Joseph Delgado and Andrew Durant — delivered a dominant performance in the “Excel Shuffle” case challenge and officially clinched the world championship title.

Interim dean of Lewis Honors College appointed

Dear Colleagues, I am pleased to announce that Dr. Laura Bryan has agreed to serve as interim dean of the Lewis Honors College, effective June 1, 2025.  Dr. Bryan joined the university in 2019 and has served in various roles, including acting dean of the Lewis Honors College from 2020 to 2022. She brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education and academic leadership into her role as the inaugural T.G. Lewis Faculty Scholar in Organizational Behavior within the college.

6 students selected as 2025 Sustainability Summer Research Fellows

Six University of Kentucky undergraduates have been selected for the Sustainability Summer Research Fellowship, a program that supports student-led projects that advance sustainable practices and community impact through research.
