UK Libraries Awards Two Seniors for Excellence in Undergraduate Research

UK Libraries is proud to recognize seniors Natalie Lewis and Siena Pilati (Lewis Honors College) with the 2026 UK Libraries Award for Undergraduate Research.  The annual prize celebrates exceptional and original undergraduate scholarship and is awarded to students whose research makes substantive and creative use of UK Libraries’ collections, services, and resources.

4 students named Excellent Undergraduate Research Ambassadors

Every year, the University of Kentucky’s Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) selects a new cohort of Undergraduate Research Ambassadors — a group of outstanding students who serve as advocates for undergraduate research at UK. This year, OUR awarded four students as Excellent Undergraduate Research Ambassadors in recognition of their outstanding contributions, achievements and dedication to promoting undergraduate research opportunities across UK’s campus and fostering community engagement.

Today and tomorrow, the University of Kentucky will host its largest-ever Commencement, with a record number of both ceremony participants and degree candidates. More than 4,800 graduates are registered to participate across four ceremonies taking place May 8 and 9, in Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center. Overall, 6,693 May degree candidates were approved by the UK Board of Trustees. This includes 4,427 undergraduate, 1,526 graduate and 740 professional degree candidates.* Ceremonies include:

UK’s Omicron Delta Kappa Nu Circle inducts new members, recognizes student leaders

The University of Kentucky’s Nu Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa inducted 36 new members and recognized student leaders and faculty advisors during its Spring 2026 initiation ceremony last month.

12 students selected as 1st cohort of Tracy Farmer Scholars

The Tracy Farmer Institute for Sustainability and the Environment (TFISE) at the University of Kentucky selected 12 students for the inaugural cohort of Tracy Farmer Scholars conducting research in environment and sustainability.

Meet the May 2026 UK Commencement student speakers (three are Honors students)

Four graduating students have been selected by University of Kentucky President Eli Capilouto to represent the Class of 2026 as speakers at UK’s May Commencement Ceremonies Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9. Together, they reflect the breadth of the UK experience — leaders, scholars and innovators whose paths have been shaped by discovery, service and a strong sense of community. The students are Mostafa Mubarak, Carolina Burn, Siena Pilati and Fatimah Alomar.

UK Lewis Honors College student named 2026 Key into Public Service Scholar

Trenton Schroering, a junior majoring in political science with minors in law and justice and writing, rhetoric, & digital studies, was one of 20 students selected from a highly competitive nationwide pool of nearly 800 applicants as a 2026 Key into Public Service Scholar by the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Schroering is the first UK student to earn the award.

Chellgren Center celebrates grads, names 2026 student fellows and endowed professors

The University of Kentucky’s Chellgren Center for Undergraduate Excellence recognized graduating students, introduced its 2026 student fellows (over half are Honors students) — the program’s 20th class — and announced its 2026-29 endowed professors during an event April 16.
