LHC Maddie Duff '25 selected for Kentucky Derby Royal Court

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 14, 2025) — Two University of Kentucky students are playing major roles in the traditions leading up to the Kentucky Derby. Maddie Duff, a Lewis Honors College senior majoring in neuroscience and Appalachian studies; and Elizabeth King, a senior Presidential Scholar majoring in finance and music performance were selected as Derby Festival Princesses in the 2025 Royal Court Program.

UK student combines passion for mental health advocacy, childhood rare disease patient care

University of Kentucky senior Meaghan Haddix enjoys being part of Behavioral Health Wellness Environments for Living and Learning (BH WELL), a mental and behavioral health research team housed within the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. She also has a passion for DanceBlue, a student-run organization that fundraises year-round for the DanceBlue Hematology/Oncology Clinic and culminates in a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon.

Kentucky Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman is the keynote speaker for the University of Kentucky’s second annual Lewis Honors College Leadership Conference, Feb. 25 at Lewis Honors College. The conference is jointly presented by the Lewis Honors College and the 2028 Otis A. Singletary Scholar cohort.

2025-26 Undergraduate Research Ambassador application now open

Applications are being accepted for University of Kentucky Undergraduate Research Ambassadors (URAs) for the 2025-26 school year. Organized by the UK Office of Undergraduate Research, the Ambassadors program is a volunteer opportunity for undergraduates who are passionate about promoting undergraduate research at UK and helping other undergraduates find their path.

13 UK undergraduates to present at Posters-at-the-Capitol

Thirteen University of Kentucky undergraduate researchers will present their work at the 23rd annual Posters-at-the-Capitol on March 6. The event will feature research topics including community health, agricultural sustainability, renewable energy and public health and safety.

Before Hena Kachroo had even enrolled at the University of Kentucky and discovered its welcoming and warm research environment, she had a model for what it meant to feel valued in a community. Growing up, she’d attended cultural events among the Indian community in Lexington where her family’s culture, traditions and classical dance had collectively made a meaningful impression and created an important sense of belonging and network of support.
