Lewis Honors, Gatton College host guest speaker, panel discussion on community development

The Lewis Honors College, Gatton College of Business and Economics and the Appalachian Center will host guest speaker, Dr. Seth Kaplan, for a talk entitled, "Strengthening Appalachia: Strategies Overcoming Fragility and Fostering Growth". A panel discussion featuring local government officials and University faculty members will follow the lecture.

The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy (UKCOP) proudly announces that Frank Romanelli, Pharm.D., Parker Endowed Professor and chief academic officer, and Lewis Honors College faculty member has been awarded the 2025 Rho Chi Lecture Award. UK’s Badour recognized as KPA’s ‘Psychologist of the Year’

Christal Badour, Ph.D., an associate professor of psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences and Lewis Honors College faculty member at the University of Kentucky, has been honored as the 2024 “Psychologist of the Year” by the Kentucky Psychological Association (KPA). Christal Badour’s work examines the development and treatment of psychological disorders following exposure to violence and other traumatic events.

Lewis Honors College student Ethan Morgan was crowned UK Homecoming 2024 king on Saturday, Oct. 12, during the UK vs. Vanderbilt football game halftime ceremonies. Honors seniors, Maddie Duff, Sarisha Lohano, Olivia Thornsbury, and Luke Karem were also honored as finalists in the homecoming court.

NSF grant propels UK chemist’s research on air pollution

Donations for Citations is back with some friendly competition

Maddie Duff, Lewis Honors College senior and president of UK’s Student Government Association, suggested a friendly contest between the University of Tennessee to see which school can gather the most donations to support their respective food pantries during the Donations for Citations program to be held from October 14-31. Excess donations will be shared with Take a Tampon, an organization founded by Lewis Honors College alumna Kotomi Yokokura '24 to ensure that all students have access to free and high-quality menstrual products.

Lewis Honors college student, Sara Dickens, received the Torch Bearer award for academic excellence and impact on others as part of the 33rd annual Lyman T. Johnson Awards.

Asa O’Neal spent his summer interning at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, helping develop cryogenic CO2 scrubber technologies for human spaceflight. He got to see the inner workings of NASA, including Mission Control.

UK senior and Astronaut Scholar revels in ‘most impactful award’ he’s ever received

(Oct. 2, 2024) — Asa O’Neal, a University of Kentucky senior mechanical engineering and physics major, was named to the 2024 Astronaut Scholars class by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF). The West Liberty, Kentucky, native is one of 71 Astronaut Scholars and was recently honored at the ASF Innovators Symposium and Gala in Houston, Texas.
