UK Freshman Awarded Critical Language Scholarship to Study Russian

Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that UK modern and classical languages/Russian studies and political science freshman Anna Wagner has been awarded a Critical Language Scholarship.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Recognizes 9 From UK

UK's Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that doctoral students Calah Ford and Lydia Hager and 2018 graduate Aaron Mueller have been selected to receive government-funded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. In addition, six other UK students were recognized by the NSF program. 

Fulbright Program Recognizes 5 UK Students

UK's Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that four recent UK graduates (including Lewis Honors College student Ben Childress '18) and one doctoral student have been offered Fulbright U.S. Student Program scholarships to do research and teach abroad.

UK Graduate Wins Princeton in Asia Fellowship

Recent UK modern and classical languages/Chinese studies and international studies graduate Bridget Nicholas has been selected for a fellowship from the Princeton in Asia program. As part of the program, Nicholas will serve with China's Dunhuang Academy, which curates the Mogao grottoes and other cultural sites in the region.

Claire Bishop, a UK graduate, is one of 15 upcoming competitors on the long-running TV quiz show. The "Jeopardy!" Teachers Tournament starts airing tonight (May 7) on CBS.

Graduating Senior Uses UK Research Experience to Eradicate Malaria

Following in his father’s footsteps, Esias Bedingar came to UK in 2014 from Chad, not knowing any English at all. Since then, he has founded a nonprofit to help eradicate malaria in his home country, conducts research in neurodegenerative diseases, and will graduate with a degree in public health before attending Harvard University this fall.

May 2018 Commencement Speakers Announced

UK President Eli Capilouto has selected student representatives to speak at each of the four UK Commencement Ceremonies. Esias Bedingar, Andrea Bomkamp, Elizabeth Dempsey and Elizabeth Foster were chosen from nearly 40 applicants. The ceremonies will be held Friday, May 4, and Sunday, May 6, in Rupp Arena.

Some of UK’s Youngest Artists Win Awards at Foundations Show

The 2018 Foundations Show celebrated work of the newest art students on campus and showcased work by more than 150 students from UK School of Art and Visual Studies. It also recognized the best work from this group with more than $10,000 in scholarships.
