A Message from the Lewis Honors College Leadership

The Lewis Honors College grieves the violent deaths of Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and others whose murders have prompted widespread protest against deep injustice and oppression. We, the members of the leadership team of the Lewis Honors College, mourn these tragedies and the grief and fear that accompany these deaths. Racism has no place in our society, and we all have a moral obligation to work to eliminate it.  

Outstanding Seniors Receive 2020 Honors Awards

As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, the Lewis Honors College held its Spring 2020 Medal Ceremony virtually for graduates on May 7. Keeping with tradition, Associate Dean Czarena Crofcheck announced the nominees and winners for the five annual honors awards: the Raymond Betts Crystal Award, the Diachun Award, the Leadership Award, the Diachun Scholar Award and the Evans Scholar Award. 

Lewis Honors College Speaker to Share Strategies For How to Thrive in College

Next week, the University of Kentucky Lewis Honors College will welcome Laurie Schreiner, a psychologist who researches college students, to campus as part of its Lewis Honors College Speaker Series. Her talk, "Thriving in College," will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, in the Lewis Scholars Lounge.

These individuals receive the Lyman T. Johnson Torch of Excellence Award. These units also choose an African American student within their respective colleges/departments whose academic achievement and ability to impact the lives of others warrant them the Lyman T. Johnson Torch Bearer Award.
