For 20 years, diners in the Bluegrass have been able to satisfy their cravings for Ouita Michel's sustainable, farm-to-table cuisine at her acclaimed restaurants. Now they can make these recipes at home with her first cookbook, “Just a Few Miles South: Timeless Recipes from Our Favorite Places.”

The University of Kentucky Office of Nationally Competitive Awards has announced that three Wildcats — biology students Kayli Bolton, Zoe Hert and Carly Karrick — have been awarded a Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. The UK students are among 410 math, science and engineering students nationwide selected to receive the 2021-22 Goldwater Scholarship.

Jack Challis '04 Profession: Cancer diagnostics company builder Education: Jack graduated from UK and the Honors program in 2004, earning bachelors of science degrees in mathematics and physics. He went on to earn a Ph.D. in physics from Yale University.  What was your major and are you working in that field today? I majored in math and physics and now I work in cancer diagnostics. Safe to say I've moved a lot on this.
