To provide you with an overview for continuing your academic success with the Lewis Honors College, Lewis Launch will offer opportunities to forge strong connections with faculty, staff, and students. For more information about each event, click on the title or scroll down the page.

Launch Schedule

SUNDAY, August 17

7:00pm-9:00pm: Slumber Party Movie Night (Lewis Honors College)  
Bring your coziest blankets and pillows (and your pajamas, if you want)! We'll be playing a movie on three screens in the Scholars Lounge. Enjoy a relaxing break after early move-in with movie theatre candy and ice cold drinks.  

 

MONDAY, August 18

9:00am-3:00pm: Move-in Appointments
1:30pm-5:00pm: Check-in for Lewis Launch (Lewis Honors College) 
Stop by our Welcome and Hospitality Center located in Lewis Honors College to check in for Lewis Launch. Bring your family members to pick up their gift while supplies last. We encourage families to check in with us throughout the afternoon--our "middle" of the check in tends to be the least busy!
5:30pm-6:30pm: Meet up with your Launch Group (Location will be communicated by your Launch Leader)
6:30pm-7:30pm: Dinner with your Launch Group (The 90 or Champions Kitchen)
Go to dinner with your launch group or eat with your family.
7:30pm: Evening Social Event in Gatton Student Center
 

TUESDAY, August 19

9:30am-10:00am: Check- in for Lewis Launch (Gatton Student Center, coat check outside of Ballrooms ABC) If you did not check-in on Monday at the Welcome & Hospitality Center, please check in here 
10:00am: Official Launch Welcome Session (Gatton Student Center, Ballrooms ABC)
11:30am: Group Photo
12:00pm-1:30pm: Lunch with your Launch Group (The 90 or Champions Kitchen)
1:30pm-4:30pm: Rotational Sessions Learn about resources and programs and meet with your advisors and counselors

Example: 

Student A is assigned to Sally Foster (CPD Counselor), Britt Frye (Honors Advisor), and rotation sequence 3, 1, 4, 2. Student A would like to attend the Undergraduate Research panel. 

Student A's path of travel will be JSB 103 (Honors Advising), CP 139 (Student Panel), JSB 321 (Undergrad Research), and lastly CP 222 (CPD).


5:00pm: Dinner with your Launch Group (The 90 or Champions Kitchen)
6:30pm-8:30pm: Evening Social - Carnival on The 90 Lawn 
Enjoy some classic carnival games, food, and competition (yes, there will be prize giveaways)! We'll have face painting, a photo booth, water games, silent disco (in Lewis Scholar's Lounge), and relaxing activities in Lewis U136 for those wanting a serene experience. 
8:30pm-10:00pm: Kroger Back to School Bash  
Free shuttle buses will run continuously during the event and will pick up and drop off students at Wildcat Alumni Plaza AND outside W.T. Young Library on Hilltop Avenue. Don't miss this fun opportunity to catch a bus with other UK students and enjoy a late-night Kroger run! Stock up on items for your room, soft drinks, snacks, school supplies, and anything else you might need to be at home at UK. You'll be able to buy all this and more while enjoying free food, cool activities, and prizes! Sponsored by Kroger, the official grocery partner of move-in.

 

WEDNESDAY, August 20

10:00am-11:00am: Meet the Faculty Session (Gatton Student Center, Ballrooms AB)
Attend the faculty panel discussion to get to know some of your faculty members before the school year kicks off.
11:00am-12:00pm: Resource Fair (Gatton Student Center, Ballroom C) or Lunch
Your group will rotate between lunch and the resource fair. Visit with UK resources and student organizations to learn about all the ways you can get plugged in. Groups 1-21 will begin at the resource fair.
12:00pm-1:00pm: Resource Fair (Gatton Student Center, Ballroom C) or Lunch
Your group will rotate between lunch and the resource fair. Visit with UK resources and student organizations to learn about all the ways you can get plugged in. Groups 22-43 will go to the resource fair.
