Community of Scholars Launch Schedule

MONDAY, August 19

9:00am-3:00pm: Move-in Appointments
Arrive to campus for your move-in appointment. 

4:00pm-5:30pm: Check-in for Lewis Launch (Lewis Honors College)
Stop by the Lewis Honors College to meet staff and enjoy beverages. New students can pick up their name tag and personalized schedule for Launch.

5:30pm: Meet up with your Launch Group! (Location will be communicated by your Launch Leader)
Your Launch Leader will share a designated spot to meet with your group in the areas around the Lewis Honors College and Community of Scholars residence halls. 

6:30pm: Dinner with your Launch Group (The 90 or Champions Kitchen)
Go to dinner with your Launch Group or eat with your family. 

8:00pm: Evening Social Event (Gatton Student Center)
Enjoy an evening filled with comedy, music and fun games.

TUESDAY, August 20

9:30am-10:00am: Check in (Gatton Student Center, coat check located outside Grand Ballrooms ABC, 2nd floor)
If you did not check-in on Monday at the Welcome & Hospitality Center, now is your chance to get your name tag and personalized schedule for Launch.  

10:00am: Official Launch Welcome Session (Harris Ballroom, Gatton Student Center)
Come with your Launch Group to this session where Lewis Launch officially “lifts off!” We will review details of the Launch schedule and introduce you to some key leaders. 

11:00am: Launch Group Activity (Location will be communicated by your Launch Leader)

12:00pm: Lunch with your Launch Group (The 90 or Champions Kitchen)

1:30pm-3:30pm: Informational Sessions (Chemistry Physics building room 222)

1:30pm-2:00pm Residence Life Information Session There is a lot to look forward to as a resident in the Community of Scholars LLP.  Hear from current RD's as they share ways to build community in your hall and how they and Peer Mentors will support you. There will also be time for Q&A.
2:15pm - 2:45pm  Center for Student Involvement Learn all about getting involved on campus! There are over 500 student run organizations and a plethora of opportunities to get involved on campus and the Lexington community. This session will get you thinking about leaving your mark at UK!
3:00pm – 3:30pm Prevention, Outreach, and Wellness Education Resources: Overview (POWER) This session will provide an overview of the resources available to you in the POWER office. College can be stressful, but you’re not alone. POWER is here to help. Whether it’s stress management, substance misuse, sexual health, or sleep support, they have resources and programs ready to meet your needs.

3:30pm-5:30pm: Break

5:30pm-7:00pm: Dinner with your Launch Group (The 90 or Champions Kitchen)

7:00pm-8:30pm: Late Night with the Dean (Gatton Student Center Ballrooms ABC)
Dean Christian Brady will host this unconventional and fun-filled convocation formatted as a late night show where students will get to know key members of the UK community and enjoy a variety of entertainers.  

8:30pm-10:00pm After Show Party (optional) (Lewis Honors College)
Join the Launch Leaders and choose among several game rooms (including Trivia, board games, and more), enjoy snacks, and socialize.

WEDNESDAY, August 21


11:00am: Resource Fair (Gatton Student Center Ballroom C)
Attend the Resource Fair with your Launch Group and visit with UK resources and student organizations to learn about all the ways you can get plugged in.

1:00pm: Lunch with your Launch Group, Launch Concludes (The 90 or Champions Kitchen)
Celebrate your completion of Launch by dining with your Launch Group. This isn’t goodbye because your Launch Leader will support your group through the first week of September. After that, you will have a designated Peer Mentor to check in with you during the school year.
