            How to Honor the Balance
I honor the balance by intentionally living as analog a life as I can in our digital world. Our minds are constantly bombarded with notifications, emails, and curated images that can cause stress and disconnection. I started feeling detached from the people and places around me, so I began unplugging intentionally. Now, I read before bed, handwrite my to-do lists, take lunch walks, and talk to friends and family on the phone. I use cookbooks instead of online recipes, keep a paper calendar, print my photos for photo albums, and even subscribe to a newspaper (I know, those do still exist!). I don't have many social media accounts, and I put a screentime limit on my TikTok time. Unplugging has helped me restore focus, sleep better, and feel more connected to the present moment.
I recommend that students set boundaries with technology and create space for offline living. Define "no-screen" times, like during meals or before bed, and check your messages or social media only at set times. Turn off your nonessential notifications and use "Do Not Disturb" during focused work and relaxation times. Take daily breaks to unplug, and plan longer digital detoxes during weekends or vacations. Try replacing that screen time with activities like reading, cooking, or spending time with friends face-to-face.
