What have you learned as a Singletary Scholar? What do you hope to accomplish as a Singletary Scholar?

As a recent Singletary Scholar, one of the things I've quickly learned is the idea of servant leadership. Real leadership isn't about a title or getting credit for something. It's about showing up for people even when there's nothing in it for you.

That idea matters even more to me because of the field I'm going into. Finance is often built around looking out for yourself, maximizing returns, getting ahead, building your own portfolio. Being introduced to servant leadership has given me a different lens to look through, and a toolkit I wouldn't have picked up otherwise. Going forward, I want to use that mindset to make sure the skills I build in finance don't just serve me. I want to notice the problems other people walk past and actually do something about them. If I leave UK having helped more people than I helped myself, I'll call that a win.
