The Lewis Honors College (LHC) attracts students driven “to better the Commonwealth of Kentucky.” LHC senior Ethan Morgan took the mission to heart when he initiated the inaugural LHC Golf Scramble to benefit the Lewis Unforeseen Circumstances and Kindness (LUCK) Fund — an emergency collection for unexpected student needs — to be held on Friday, April 18 at 1:30 PM at the University Club of Kentucky Wildcat Course.

“The inspiration for this event comes from a need that I believe we must fill. Life is so unpredictable and often an unforeseen circumstance presents itself to people in the worst times possible,” Morgan said.

He added, “I often hear of our own students going through tough times, perhaps house fires, loss of loved ones, and so much more. Though money cannot replace loss or fix a tough time, it can most definitely alleviate some of the burden on a student.”

By raising money for the LUCK fund through the LHC Golf Scramble, Morgan envisions the LHC Golf Scramble also providing an opportunity for valuable community-building and networking for students, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the Honors College. Students may participate for $75 per individual; others may play for $150 as an individual or $400 as a team of four.

Prizes will be awarded to the best-performing team, longest drive, closest drive to the line, closest to the pin, and longest putt.

The LHC Golf Scramble is proud to announce that Osborne Lawless and Associates of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management will be the Presenting Sponsor for the event. Additional sponsorship types and player signups can be found at honors.uky.edu/golf.

“I look forward to the opportunity to begin this initiative and watch it continually grow and impact students’ lives in the future!” Morgan shared.
